A hummus platter (or more accurately, bowl) is one of my go-to afternoon snacks. After years of making hummus, I’ve devised my own recipe, which includes using more lemon juice, less tahini, and blending the mixture until super smooth. Though homemade hummus is delicious and easy to make, I’m not a purist. I’ll also happily eat a store-bought version.
I love serving my hummus with fresh vegetables, like carrot sticks or sliced bell peppers, and some sort of cracker-like snack. Pita chips complement hummus the best, but they’re typically more expensive than an option like Wheat Thins or butter crackers.

Thankfully, I recently found a brand of pita chips that is both affordable and delicious: ALDI’s Clancy’s Pita Chips. These pita chips are super crunchy and satisfyingly thick, coming in two flavors: sea salt and Parmesan, garlic and herb. While most of the pita chips come in flat pieces, some come folded, which makes for an extra-fun, crunchy surprise.
The saltiness of the pita chips, along with their crunch and hint of olive oil, beautifully balance out the creaminess of the hummus. Plus, including the chips on the side instead of just eating hummus with vegetables turns the platter into a more complete, satiating snack. Luckily, the Clancy’s pita chips are cheaper than other brands (including the Specialty Selected pita chips ALDI used to carry), priced at $2.45 for a 7.3-ounce bag.

How to Enjoy ALDI’s Pita Chips
To pair these pita chips with a store-bought hummus, I recommend ALDI’s Roasted Red Pepper Hummus or Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Style Hummus. However, the options for these pita chips extend beyond just hummus. For one, they can be used to scoop up other Middle Eastern or Mediterranean dips like baba ganoush, tzatziki, or melitzanosalata.
Or, you can use the crunchy chips to complement a cucumber tomato salad, either crushing the chips up into the salad in place of croutons or scooping salad onto a chip. And if you’re looking for a quick way to snazz up a plain pita chip, simply pop a small piece of feta and sun-dried tomato on top. I can practically hear the sound of the sound of the crunch.
