Why I Love Dollar Tree’s Single-Serve Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Let’s start with the obvious—variety without commitment. Currently, my freezer is home to pints of Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Brownie Fudge, and my personal favorite, Americone Dream. Only, instead of letting a half-eaten pint collect frost for weeks, I now enjoy a complete ice cream experience in one or two sittings. There’s zero waste and zero guilt. At four ounces, each cup holds an amount that’s just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.
The cost is comparable, but, in my opinion, the variety makes it more worthwhile. A standard 16-ounce pint typically sells for $5 to $6 in other grocery stores, so at $1.25 for four 4-ounce containers, the price ends up being the same or slightly less.
Of course, all the other things the OG Ben & Jerry’s is known for also make it a good ice cream choice: The brand uses quality ingredients from diverse sources, is committed to sustainable practices, has Fairtrade certification, and strives to generate prosperity for everyone connected to their business. Some flavors, like Cherry Garcia, are even certified gluten-free, making them good options for friends with dietary restrictions.
How I Serve Dollar Tree’s Single-Serve Ben & Jerry’s Cups
I’ve found creative ways to elevate these little cups, too. I’ve made affogatos by pouring a shot of hot espresso over a scoop. For impromptu desserts, I’ll wash the outside container well and slice the frozen cup (container and all) into perfect rounds to sandwich between freshly baked cookies. I’m also the hero at any last-minute Friday night friend hangouts when I bring over a bunch of ice cream for the kids to choose from.
A couple of years ago, we created a hot fudge sundae bar for my daughter’s birthday (this sauce is great!), and I think doing something similar with these mini cups would be a lot of fun. It ultimately becomes a build-your-own dessert bar that looks thoughtfully assembled but requires no cooking or baking.
Dollar Tree’s inventory can be unpredictable, so grab these whenever you spot them. But for me, that’s part of the fun—the treasure hunt aspect keeps me coming back! And that’s the magic of Dollar Tree shopping, in general. Finding something unexpectedly wonderful among the aisles makes me feel like I’ve outsmarted the entire retail system.
