30,000 Pounds of CHOMPS Meat Sticks Recalled for Potential Metal Contamination
On March 20, Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC, recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of CHOMPS ready-to-eat beef and turkey stick products for potentially being contaminated with metal, according to The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The company voluntarily recalled two flavors after two consumers reported metal fragments in the products.
Fortunately, no one has been injured from consuming one of these products. “This internal recall was initiated as a precautionary measure out of an abundance of caution. Our consumers are, and always will be, our number one priority,” CHOMPS wrote on its site.
The products in question were packaged at a single facility between January 16, 2025, and January 23, 2025.

400 Cases of ALDI Shredded Cheese Recalled for Potential Metal Contamination
On March 19, the United States Food & Drug Association (FDA) reclassified an existing recall on Happy Farms by ALDI Colby Jack Finely Shredded Cheese, bumping it up to a Class II recall. According to the FDA, this recall level indicates that consuming the product could lead to serious health consequences. The recall—which the manufacturer, Great Lakes Cheese Co., did voluntarily on February 15—was initiated after concerns about the product being tainted with stainless steel fragments.

Target Cheesecake Recalled for Undeclared Allergen
On March 19, Dessert Holdings LLC pulled Target’s Favorite Day Gourmet New York Style Cheesecake from store shelves for not disclosing that the product contained pecans. As the FDA points out, those with nut allergies can have a severe, potentially life-threatening reaction if they consume this dessert.
A consumer flagged this error on the packing on March 14, which led the manufacturer to initiate a recall of products distributed to specific Target Distribution Centers between February 14 and March 7, 2025.
