Price:<\/strong> $1.99 for a 24-ounce jar (usual price: $3.29)<\/p>\n Why I Love It:<\/strong> I love Newman\u2019s Own sauces for their great flavor and straightforward ingredient list, which makes them easy to adapt to a variety of dishes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n My friends joke that shopping for food is my number one hobby, and they\u2019re not wrong. Between trips to the farmers market, forays at Trader Joe\u2019s, and my weekly stock-up at Wegman\u2019s, I spend a lot of time gently squeezing produce, nibbling bakery samples, and comparing various deals to find the best food I can get my hands on\u2014and at the best prices.\n<\/p>\n So, when I saw that Wegman\u2019s was running a sale of Newman\u2019s Own Sauces<\/strong>, I had to hustle over there and pick some up.\n<\/p>\n From now until April 14, certain 24-ounce jars of Newman\u2019s Own sauces, (including my favorites, Marinara and Sockarooni, plus Tomato and Basil) are on sale for $1.99 instead of the usual $3.29. I love a good deal on something with a long shelf life, so I grabbed a few of each flavor to keep on hand for whenever I need a quick dinner\u2014basically every night. Note that the organic sauces aren\u2019t included, nor are other Newman\u2019s Own products.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Simply Recipes \/ Wegmans<\/p>\n <\/span> <\/p>\n While I like to make my own marinara sauce, and I\u2019m a well-documented fan of Rao\u2019s, having a jar of any good marinara (or the zippier and heftier Sockarooni, which includes peppers, mushrooms, and herbs) in the pantry is always a good move.\n<\/p>\n I can use the sauces for pizza beans, steamed mussels marinara, an easy chicken Parmesan, or just dump it on a big mountain of spaghetti like Paul Newman intended. I specifically like to include Newman\u2019s Own Sockarooni in my recipe for baked ziti because the extra vegetables give the baked pasta a nice texture.\n<\/p>\n I like Newman\u2019s Own sauces as a jumping-off point for other dishes because the ingredients are straightforward, and there\u2019s no added sugar. I can easily adapt the sauce to suit whatever dish I\u2019m making. I also have a sweet spot for Newman\u2019s Own products because Paul Newman is a bonafide heartthrob for the ages, and Cool Hand Luke<\/em> is one of my all-time favorite movies.\n<\/p>\n Perhaps more importantly, 100 percent of the profits from Newman\u2019s Own products support the Paul Newman Foundation, which does essential work supporting youth with disabilities, living in poverty, and facing hunger.
