Within the last two weeks, two major food recalls were initiated for chocolate chip cookies and frozen taquitos. Here’s what you need to know.\n<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n On January 21, D. Coluccio & Sons initiated a recall on its 300-gram packages of \u201cColussi Cantuccini Chocolate Drops,\u201d according to the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The cookies, sold nationwide in retail stores and online, were recalled after the company realized the product label didn\u2019t declare that the cookies contained almonds. A subsequent investigation revealed that a \u201ctemporary breakdown in the company\u2019s production and packaging processes\u201d was the reason for the mishap.\n<\/p>\n Tree nuts are one of the nine major allergies in the country, so consuming this product could be life-threatening for those affected.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Consumers should look for the following UPC and lot numbers on blue 300-gram (10.58-ounce) bags of Colussi Cantuccini Chocolate Drops:\n<\/p>\n UPC<\/strong> 8002590006020 As of January 24, the FDA hasn\u2019t reported anyone experiencing an allergic reaction after consuming these cookies. However, if you did recently purchase these cookies and you or someone in your home is allergic to almonds, you are entitled to a full refund from the place you purchased them.\n<\/p>\n If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to D. The California-based company supplied the frozen item to select ALDI grocery stores nationwide.\n<\/p>\n Bestway Sandwiches, Inc. notified The U.S. Department of Agriculture\u2019s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that it received a complaint from a consumer. The customer reported they found a piece of metal in the taquitos. Another person reported to FSIS that they experienced a dental injury after consuming the same product. FSIS is concerned that some of these frozen items may still be in people\u2019s freezers.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n 20-oz carton packages containing \u201cCASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS\u201d The FSIS urges those who recently bought the taquitos to throw them out immediately. You can notify ALDI that you purchased them before or after the recall was initiated and the grocery story should offer a full refund.
