This week\u2019s recall roundup consists of many people\u2019s go-to canned fish, plus a popular vessel that you use to keep perishable food cold.\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"heading-toc\" id=\"toc-canned-tuna-recalled-nationwide-for-potential-botulism-contamination\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"mntl-sc-block_3-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block lifestyle-sc-block-heading mntl-sc-block-heading\"> <span class=\"mntl-sc-block-heading__text\"> Canned Tuna Recalled Nationwide for Potential Botulism Contamination <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> On February 7, Tri-Union Seafoods recalled select lots of canned tuna products sold under several brand names due to defective lids.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The brands affected include:\n<\/p>\n<ul id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\n<li><strong>Genova<\/strong>: Sold in select Costco stores in the southeast, Kroger, Safeway, Publix, and Walmart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Van Camp\u2019s: <\/strong>Sold at Walmart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>H-E-B<\/strong>: Sold exclusively in Texas.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trader Joe\u2019s<\/strong>: Cans were distributed across 18 states and Washington D.C.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The company voluntarily recalled the product after its supplier informed it that the \u201ceasy open\u201d pull tab on the can\u2019s lid experienced a manufacturing defect\u2014meaning the the lid\u2019s seal is highly questionable. If the seal were to open at any point, especially over time, the product could leak or become contaminated with <em>Clostridium botulinum<\/em>, a bacteria that causes botulism.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, botulism\u2014while rare\u2014can damage your body\u2019s nerves and cause respiratory issues, muscle paralysis, and even death.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Don\u2019t take a chance. The company is urging people to dispose of the tuna products listed here.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> So far, no one has become sick from the recalled product. If you\u2019ve purchased it from one of the above brands, throw it away or return it to the store you bought it from for a full refund. These coolers were sold at Costco, Target, Academy, Dick\u2019s, and other stores nationwide between January 2019 and January 2025, with the prices ranging from $80-$140. They were also sold online at Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com, and other websites during this time.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> <strong>Name of product:<\/strong> Igloo 90 Qt. Flip &amp; Tow Rolling Coolers<strong><br \/>Distribution: <\/strong>All across the U.S. (plus, 47,000 distributed to Canada and 23,000 to Mexico)\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The coolers impacted by this recall have a tow handle and &#8220;IGLOO&#8221; printed on the side. Look for a label on the bottom of your Igloo cooler which displays the model number.
